A Celebration in October

Citizens of eastern and western Germany jointly founded the Foundation of the Peaceful Revolution in 2009. Since then it has established itself as a platform for all those working for democracy, cultural diversity, non-violence and peace today in the tradition of the Peaceful Revolution. The foundation aims not only to commemorate the historical events of the autumn of 1989 in the GDR and the developments in neighbouring Central Eastern European countries, but also to educate people about the nature and dangers of authoritarian systems and anti-democratic ideologies. We want to celebrate our 15th anniversary with eye witnesses of 1989, musicians and our Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Burkhard Jung, in the Nikolai Church and dare to build a bridge between 1989 and the challenges of the present.
