Speaker 2023 – Dr. Somi Nikol
Dr. Somi Nikol is a judge at the District Court. She studied Law at the Universities of Freiburg im Breisgau and Aberdeen (UK). After joining the judicial service of the state of Baden-Württemberg in 2012, she she first worked as a public prosecutor and from 2015 as a judge. From 2018 to 2019, she was seconded to the European Court of Human Rights. From August 2020, she worked at the Permanent Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Council of Europe and implementation of Germany’s presidency of the Committee of Ministers. From August 2021, she again served as a judge at the Regional Court of Freiburg, before July 2022, she was seconded to the Office of the Federal Public Prosecutor General of Germany. She holds various teaching positions and regularly publishes articles in professional journals.
